Nita Sparks Browning,
Age 88. Sunday, March 5, 2017. Beloved wife of 55 years to the late Robert Winston Browning; treasured mother of Robert Walter (Donna) Browning, Nancy Browning Hughson, John Winston Browning, and the late Jeanne Elizabeth Browning; adored grandmother of Jonathan Lee (Stephanie) Browning, Robert Winston Browning II, and David Andrew Hughson; dear great-grandmother of Abigail, Joshua, Jordan and Sydney; devoted sister of the late Beverly Ann Dick; dear sister-in-law, aunt and friend.

Mrs. Browning was a graduate of the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri, where she was a member of Kappa Tau Alpha (journalism honorary) and Delta Delta Delta. She held public relations positions in several St. Louis-area universities, retiring in 1994 as director of public relations from St. Louis University’s Parks College. She was a member of the National Federation of Press Women and a past president of the St. Louis Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. To her children, she was always “The Queen of English.”

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood where she served as a Deacon and Stephen Minister. A proud and nearly 50-year member of The Wednesday Club, she also belonged to Chapter GT of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood. Visitation at Bopp Chapel on Friday, March 10, 4 - 7 p.m. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood would be appreciated.
