Obituary for David Jones

David Clyde Jones, who taught Theology and Ethics at Covenant Seminary for forty years, has died at the age of 79. He is the author of Biblical Christian Ethics, which continues to influence seminary students across the world. It has been translated into Spanish and Korean. In addition to being a missionary pastor on Grand Cayman Island for two years, he served at Academic Vice President at Covenant Theological Seminary for eleven years.

Mr. Jones was married for 54 years to Sue Ellen Bilderback Jones, and they have two sons, Mark (Moyra) and Keith (Rebekah). He loved to read to and play music with his beloved grandchildren Cameron, Margaret, David, Isaac, Rowen, and Ailee.

His musical interests were playing the tuba, principally in the University City Summer Band, and bluegrass on acoustic guitar. He was most recently engaged in a research project involving the influence of spirituals on early gospel music and jazz.

The burial service will be at St. Paul Churchyard on Wednesday, March 8 at 10:00 a.m. The memorial service will be at Covenant Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 9.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Theological Seminary.
