Obituary for Elizabeth Beck

Elizabeth Beck
Elizabeth “Betty” Beck (nee Murphy) age 92, Beloved wife of the late Vincent Gregory Beck; loving mother of Denise (David Schmiderer) Beck of Ballwin and Christopher (Lisa) Beck of Kirkwood; cherished grandmother of Elizabeth (Bobby) Cassell, Rebecca Nolen, Anna Beck and Katelyn Beck; dearest companion of Paul Gegg; dear aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend.

Betty graduated from Webster Groves High School in 1942 and had several jobs during World War II as a typist and secretary. Her last job was with D’Arcy Advertising Company on the Coca-Cola account, she left D’Arcy in 1956.

Betty’s interests over the years have been writing, history and painting. She has volunteered for the Kirkwood Historical Society for about forty years. Betty won the Mudd Award, and the Kemper Local History Award. In addition she was also with the Writers Club West for a number of years. She also won the Glendale Historical Society’s Logo Award.

Visitation 4:00pm - 8:00pm on Tuesday, June 13, at Bopp Chapel in Kirkwood. Funeral Mass 10:00am Wednesday, June 14, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Kirkwood. Interment St. Peter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or the Kirkwood Historical Society.
