Obituary for S. John Ammon
S. John Ammon born on May 2, 1940, and passed away on July 2, 2017.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Dee; his sister, Sue Young (Bill); sisters-in-law Pam Cunningham (Guy), Michelle Royse (Dave); nephews and nieces, Rachel Young, Matthew Young, Nathan Cunningham, Sydney Banick, Cole Cummings, Carson Royse, Brian Thomas, Suzy Yroz, and Ronald Thomas; five cousins; nine great-nieces and nephews; and many devoted friends.
John served as a military policeman in the U.S. Army, 1963-65. He worked as a commercial and residential real estate appraiser, first for St. Louis County, then Marshall and Stevens, and as Vice President of Saving Service Corporation. He received his certification as a Senior Residential Appraiser in 1975. In 1979 John and Dee opened their own appraising company, S. John Ammon and Associates. He served as President of the St. Louis Chapter of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers in 1983. He retired in 2014.
John was an avid golfer, playing until a few months before his death. He inspired those closest to him, facing his final illness with grace, courage and his ever-present humor, living life fully until the end.
Visitation with family will be at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Road, on Monday, July 24th, 10:00-11:30 a.m., immediately followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. There will be a private interment for family only. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society, the Salvation Army, or to a charity of your choice.
