William Sheahan
Sheahan, William T., fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Nov 20, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Patricia E. Sheahan (nee Slessinger); beloved father of Rev. William T. Sheahan, Jr., S.J., and Anne D. Maret (David); loving grandfather of Lucy, Julia and Kate Maret; dear brother of John J. (Jack) Sheahan and Timothy D. Sheahan; preceded in death by his dear brother Andrew E. Sheahan (Bettie) and dear sister Emma Marie Sheahan, as well as sisters-in-law Dorothy Sheahan and Helen Sheahan. Beloved uncle to several nieces and nephews. Bill was born on September 30, 1931, to Andrew T. and Hanora M. Sheahan in Arcadia, MO. He graduated from Chaminade College Preparatory School and Washington University. Bill served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army in an anti-aircraft battery at Fort Bliss, TX, and Fort Lewis, WA. Along with his brothers, Andy and Jack, he was a principal in the mortgage banking firm, The Sheahan Investment Co., for twenty-seven years. Upon its sale, Bill continued working in commercial mortgage banking as part of the Sheahan Financial Co., a division of Clayton Savings & Loan Co., and later, First Banks, Inc. He was named the first President of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Missouri upon the organization's formation. Throughout his career, Bill offered his professional expertise generously as a board member and President/Chairperson of several organizations, including: The Arcadia Valley Bank Board of Directors; Mary, Queen of Peace Home and School Association; Ursuline Academy Board of Trustees; and White House Jesuit Retreat Board of Trustees. Visitation on Friday, Nov 24, 4 – 8 p.m., at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood, MO 63122. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Nov 25, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 676 W. Lockwood Ave., Webster Groves, MO 63119. Internment at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Ursuline Sisters Retirement Fund, 353 S. Sappington Rd., St. Louis, MO 63122, appreciated.
